Last thursday afternoon after a full day at school i headed off to mediapolis iowa. Since 8 hrs to fairbury to too long to drive alone in an afternoon it only made sense to stop for the night at joel and abis. meeting me at the door was a very large abigail, who was great with child (literally). The next morning as i awoke from the couch (thats my staked bed everytime i go there...yes there is guest bed and no i don't sleep in it because its upstairs and yes, im a whimp!) I discovered that miss abi had begun labor pains 5 hrs earlier! :):):) The majority of my friday with great excitement consist of timing contractions! As the day progressed they were definitely getting stronger, longer and closer together. When i left at 4PM to head over to Eureka they text me to tell e that they were calling to hospital. 2 1/2 hrs later when i arrived in Eureka at Emilys, Abi called txt and said that they were en route to the hospital!!! haha You can only imagine the intensity of the squeals and giggles as me and Emily had a little celebration in her kitchen. :D
Mom and Dad flew in that next morning at 1AM. and we had STILL not heard any news on the baby. Let me tell ya, I was one antsy auntie! That morning after we had woken up I got a text from Abi to "get mom and dad and em together" ahhhh!!! that could have only ment one thing, that i was an auntie again!!:) Weston Thomas Steiner was born at 6:30AM weighing 8 pounds.
Not be be bias or anything but he is literally ...the cutest boy child i have ever seen. no joke! What a little blessing to add to our growing family! :D Now imagine this.... Abi on speaker phone with 5 grown adults in pajamas with major bed head crowded around squealing and cheering with happiness and excitement and one wailing 9 month old... which was Brielle... we all yelled so loud that we scared the poor little bugger! But none the less it was quite funny and a joyful moment:) God is so good!!!
Doing a complete 180... after our exciting news we all got dressed and headed to Fairbury for Grandpas visitation from. 2-4 and 6-8. Talk about crazy emotions To top it all off, moms luggage got lost so she had absolutely nothing to wear to her own Fathers visitation so her and dad had to go emergency shopping. I felt so bad for her :(
It was just amazing to watch a continuous line of people walk into that funeral home. Young and Old alike, all paying their respects to Grandpa. He truly did not know a stranger, and touched so so many lives! Im definitely going to miss visiting him in the care home and having an excuse to go to Fairview Haven. Even more, when i get home ill for sure miss hearing the caller ID say" Call from ILL Valley Cell" when the phone rings. It is just so comforting having the faith to believe and fully know that Grandpa is up in heaven seeing Grandma for the first time in nearly 20 years, hes walking again and running and even cooler he gets to chat with Jesus!!
He looked so peaceful laying there. It was a beautiful sight. Sad but beautiful.
