Sometimes when i think of the crazy lifestyle im living right now i have to laugh:) Every wknd im on the road. Heading somewhere, heading home, heading to church, etc. So yes i wrack up quite the gas bill but you know what, its worth it. This is 9 short months of my life. 9 months of opportunity to travel wherever, whenever, and to create memories.
Friday afternoon Christa and I headed out for a 3.5 hr drive to Ankeny Iowa where we stayed the night. Early Saturday morning we got back on the road for a few miles to Des Moines where the Iowa State Surgical Technology Convention was to be held. Saturday was a day full of talks, food, and learning. The main thing i walked away from that conference thinking was "Ive found my calling!" The first speaker of the day was a cosmetic plastic surgeon and honestly it was the coolest presentation of the entire day and totally inspired me to want to work as a tech in a plastic surgery center. Your results are phenomenal and totally life changing!! So we will see where the Lord takes me after this year is over, and who knows maybe ill get to experience that dream!:)
After the conference was over we busted out of there as soon as we could and high tailed it to West Bend where the YG there was having an invite wknd. I ended up missing supper but made it just in time for the singing:) That night I stayed at Deanna Fehrs house with Brianna Streitmatter from Princeville Illinois and Leah Gerber from Sabetha Kansas.
As we all know..Saturday night was the night to set all of our clocks back and hr. yay an hr of extra sleep right!? WRONG. Due to the fact that my phone has been dropped, thrown and abused im convinced its brains are scrambled. The dumb thing is stubborn. In fact for the last 4 nights in a row at midnight it switches up an hr. So every morning when i wake up at "7:30" and stumble into the shower or at least head that way, ive had the great experience of finding out that, nope its actually 6:30, you've been tricked again. There are time when ill be ding homework, pintersting, cooking, etc and ill look at my phone only to realize that , yup it switched up an hr again. Ive probably reset my phone a dozen times, each time it falls back an hr....only to spring forward another hr a few hrs later. Grr how frustrating. While im on the topic of frustrating... Last week i mentioned my dripping closet. When it rains my closet drips..allll over my clothes. Ive lived the majority of the last 2 months with my skirts piled around our living room. Several times ive put them back only to have it promptly rain again. You would think i would learn right? well monday morning at 7:30 our land lord knocks on the door and tell us that the roofers will be coming at 8. coming into my room that is. So i trudgingly get up and rdy for the day and this time i clean my ENTIRE closet out. within a few hrs they tell me "we're fixing the problem from the roof so you should be good to go." Great! So yesterday after class at like noon i put my clothes back into my closet once and for all..Hallelujah!...but the joy was short lived at mother nature begain hurling sleet down from the sky and the "fixed roof" sprug a leak, or two , or three....ANOTHER phone call to the land lord was made and once again the closet was cleaned out. Let us now all pray that when the roofers finally come back that this problem can be fixed once and for all.
It may seem like i am complaining...but im not. This is just the reality of life here in Spencer IA. Freezing weather, sleet, snow, and leaky closets. Sometimes i wonder what i signed up for! but then i look back on all the good times ive had thus far and how the Lord has made me grow and all the great things that have transformed in my life and i laugh. I laugh because this is just another bump in the road.

Thursday Night Christa and I had Christmas craft night where we turned up the christmas tunes, glitter glue and dollar tree stocking and tried to suffice our homesickness. Not sure if it worked though.....On a happy note, Christmas is 48 days away!!!:D and we say hasta la vista Spencer in 41 days! Continuing the countdown..
I feel as though i should probably put some real clothes on as it is nearly 2PM. All though these pajamas are cozy i need to go run in the sunshine while it lasts because who knows in an hr we could get blasted with snow again!
I want to share a new word with you all before i sign out for the week. The word is "Blesson". Blesson is when you are able to view painful lessons and blessings, in other words...A blesson is when you are able to see the blessing in the lesson that your challenge taught you.
Peace and Blessins (Kaylyn Lanz that is for u)
