And the journey begins..
It seemed like august was an eternity away which was just fine by me! But life seems to love to move in high speed. Summer went *WHOOSH* and sooner than anticipated i found myself packing. Box after box after box... August 21st, with a magnificent sunrise in the east, my dear mother and I set off with a car loaded to the brim. Off to Spencer, Iowa.. a town that neither of us had been to. Unless you count a school tour that i took earlier. ( i dont count that as going to the town of spencer though) In 2 solid days we somehow arrived! I was so proud of my little Hyundai:) we drove 1800 miles with not a single problem. Praise the Lord!
Next we set off down the streets of Spencer in search of my apartment. I didnt know what to expect to be honest. All i had seen were photos from a phone, and that was it. So you can imagine how many possibilities ran through my mind of what my little dwelling was going to look like:) As soon as my landlord opened the door to my apt. i will admit.. my jaw dropped a little. I had no idea that dwellings this small even existed! But i am here to tell you that they do:) And i have grown to love my little place. Its so small that you can look out the bathroom and see every corner in the house. no exaggeration. But the good thing about that is..hardly any cleaning!
Welcome to my humble abode:)

Im going to take a little bit to brag about my Mother. My mom is such a trooper! Shes been gone so much helping us kids out in the various states we live in, that its amazing. She deserves an award. And shes just so positive! I couldn't have gotten here without her, that is for sure. once we got here she was an immense help cleaning all the cupboards, floor boards, counter tops, etc. getting the place rdy so i could unpack. When it came to organizing my kitchen she handled it like a pro, and i am so grateful! I would have been such a wreck trying to organize where the box dinners go, and the plates, and silverware, the spices, breakfast foods, etc. fast forward a few days to our first grocery trip... if she hadnt of been with us we probably for one wouldn't have known what to even start out with, let alone what prices are good for what foods, and we probably would have spent way more than needed. Moms are amazing. You really dont realize how much they do for you till they go home. Then reality sets in and you start to miss your mom :( blehh.
SO.. mom left on monday and Christa and I were officially on our own... :O! We went home and.....did nothing. we had nothing to do for the whole day... no internet, no homework..it was awful. so we went to bed at around 8! Needless to say, that next morning we were well rested! We had orientation that day till noon and then i had class in the evening. So i guess you could say that was my official first day of school. the next 2 days were Surg Tech classes. going over the syllabus, plan for the year, what to expect etc. nothing too exciting.
One awesome thing about our program is that we get EVERY friday off!! :) So on friday i took off for Mediapolis with Darin and Amanda Banwart. Since all of the young group labor day activities were happening on the coasts this year, i spent the weekend with Abi and Joel:) It was a super fun weekend, just doing a lot of nothing, chatting, and bonding. Just the way i like it:) Abi and I spent a few hours on saturday in Kalona Iowa where a community of Amish live. So we stocked up on all sorts of goodies for my cupboards:) My dear sister Emily sent out a box FULL of college food this wknd. I am so blessed and SO thankful to have wonderful sisters who are looking out for me!
