Where do I begin!? At the moment im celebrating the first hour of my 20th year of life in the San Francisco Airport. When I first began this traveling journey yesterday evening I prayed that God would watch over me and guide me safely to my destination. Home. I prayed that when I sat with someone on the plane that if itd be his will I would be granted the opportunity to tell my plane buddy about my Faith, and about Jesus. And God came out on top!:) I sat next to a man who was quite jolly, and didn't have a problem with conversation. So we chatted. He told me about his daughter, his failed marriage, his faithful parents, his mothers recent cancer diagnosis, school, my career, and... about Faith. Believing that God has everything happen according to his timing. How everything happens for a reason. We talked about the importance of morals and sticking to them. Again we talked about Faith. This man who started out talking about Bowling and drinking and telling me how he was going to Hell, started to open up to me. It was totally a God send! God put me next to that man for a reason and its so incredible to me how you can meet a total stranger...and find things in common with them!
I knew that I had a 6 hr layover once I got to San Francisco so I once again prayed for safety. Being a woman alone at night in an airport isn't exactly the most idea situation... so I found my gate... a completely empty room.sat down. and pulled out my lap top to begin my entertainment when 4 guys from University of Portland walked up. Turns out they too have the long layover! Once we got to talking we discover we all know someone in common! So now as I write this there are 4 sleeping U of P guys sprawled over the uncomfortable airport benches. Im thankful that God once again came on top. Sent me some company so I didn't spend the night alone, and gave me the comfort of safety knowing that I am in good hands.
1 hour down, 5 more to go!
A recap of the last 2 weeks:
2 weekends ago I was giving the opportunity to travel to Burn and Sabetha Kansas with Janae Mogler, Camille Moser and Carie Moser. I didn't realize I had been living the last 7 moths only 4 hours away from my family in Kansas! Looks like I need to be familiarizing myself with an atlas. haha I seriously have the worst time with directions. Anyway it was a wonderful weekend! I would venture to say that it ranked in the top 5 of my most favorite weekends spent thus far:) Upon arriving in Sabetha the 4 of us along with Brad and Teresa kellenburger and Camille and Caries sister and brother in law, went to the Mexican restaurant in town. I walk in and low and behold, there sits my uncle Wayne and Aunt Linda Edelman from Bern and my Uncle Jim and Aunt Irene Sinn from Oregon! :) Its so special to randomly meet family like that! After an enjoyable meal, we spent the evening at Brad and Teresas with their 2 oldest children, their spouses and grandchildren. That night I stayed with Amanda and Leigha Rokey:) Such fun girls! The rest of the weekend was spent with Whitney Grimm. It was wonderful to spend some last single days with Whit as her wedding day approaches here in the next few months. My how quickly life can change!
One thing I really enjoyed about being in Kansas was the connections that everyone had to my parents and family. Since my Dads oldest sister Linda lives out in Bern, my dad had spent a summer or 2 out in Kansas so most of the people his age had a connection. It made the Sunday very enjoyable hearing all sorts of stories :) The connections ive made while being out here honestly blow me away! Its small world outside of church and an even SMALLER world within our church!
So then last weekend on Thursday I drove the 5.5 hrs alone to abis after clinical. I feel so spoiled having the opportunity to be able to drive down whenever I want to see Joel and Abi and Little Wes. Its been a joy watching him grow! I missed out on everything with breezy so its been extra special getting to watch this one grow:) He sure is a bundle! So smiley, and chunky and an overall happy baby:) The weekend was spent singing at a nursing home with the yg and Buffalo wild wings and fro yo afterwards with the sisters, shopping with abi, and lots of quality sister time that I miss so much!
The weeks are flying by and as of now I have 7 weeks left of school. 2 of which will not even be spent in school which leaves me with 5. 2 days a week of class, puts me at about 12 more classroom days! Oh Happy day!:):):) ive been checking out so bad lately, its awful!
This week was probably the longest week of my life. no joke. Christa left on Tuesday for home and class ended at noon. so I had alllll afternoon and evening to do absolutely nothing. clinicals on Wednesday lasted till 4 and then I had allll evening to do absolutely nothing. Thursdays clinicals lasted till around 3 and then I had allll evening to do absolutely nothing. All I did was wait. ( oh and pack) wait for Friday to come so I could finally set off for home. For 70 degrees. For daffodils. (ahhhh!!!! so excited!). For green grass. For Family. For my church family. For mountains. For the beach.... *sigh* the wait was long but I know it will be worth it!
So until next week ...or maybe 2 weeks depending on how lazy I feel haha.....
Have a wonderful weekend, there is so much to be thankful for!!!
