If there was ever a time in my life where i was stressed out, it now pales in comparison to the crunch i feel now.As the semester winds down, tests keep piling up, homework keeps accumulating and my stress levels have officially gone through the roof. As i sit here this windy november afternoon i have beside me one completed take home test, and one completed skin prep and draping packet. on top of both assignments lies a list. To keep my sanity my days now revolve around a list. Its the only way to successfully get through the thickness of this growing mud pile. It now reads "Study for Tomorrow's test. Pack for Illinois.Prepare for mondays test.Complete microbiology review. and Call mom (my wonder woman)." Its only 3 oclock and i fear that the seat of kitchen chair will remain warm well into the wee hours of the night. As i cross off each task i honestly breathe a sigh of relief! and then promptly jump in pinterest to clear my brain for a few minutes ;). All of this homework pales in comparison though to what lies ahead of me. Besides finals i have my clinical readiness check off looming before me. If you are unaware of what all this entails let me tell you. the clock starts when i start and i have one hr max to set up and OR room , prep a patient, do a mock procedure and tear down the OR room. All while doing it completely sterile and remembering to verbaliza any mess up no matter the size.it maye seems like nothing when put in words but let me tell u its stressful. Im so scared! so when you bow your head at your next meal, by your bed tonight, or anytime in between please say a few words for me. I would appreciate it so so much as this is a pass/fail check off. 2 tries and your out of the program.
Now to do a 180 degree turn, let me tell you about my wonderful weekend in Morris Minnesota. Friday evening Deanna Fehr and Tayla Banwart met me in Spencer and together we all drove to Morris. They were both staying at Angie Fehrs house and I met up with Kendra Schmidgall:)The Mediapolis yg got to Kendras pretty late so after a few hrs of catching up we headed off to bed. Saturday morning was a lazy one as we did not get out of our cozy beds and rdy for the day until at least 11:30. The rest of the morning and afternoon was spent making turkey cookies for the schmidgall Thanksgiving, color pictures (yes we are all still children at heart :) ), and chatting, which is what we do best! The "we" consisted of Erika, Vienna, Kendra and I.
Saturday Evening we went to a little Red school house where we met up with the rest of the Morris Yg and their guests for a wonderful evening:) dinner, singing, fellowship and it was a complete yg night. A fun one at that :)
Sunday brought church, and then dinner back in the little red school house:) I seriously am in love with that little place. it was absolutely adorable! On the way home i rode with Whitney, Lanna and Tyler Moser back to Lester church where we made it just in time for the all church singing. I felt so frumpy after sitting and sleeping in a car for 2 1/2 hrs. hah i was a total sight to see!!
On my way home i checked my phone only to read txt msg after txt msg about the devastating tornados that hit Washington Illinois and the surrounding areas! It hit home when i found out my own cousin lost his home from the distater. Im thankful though that He and the rest of our church people and the surrounding neighbors are safe and alive, and my sympathy goes out to those who lost a loved one as well as all of the physical belongings they lost. Amongst the sadness of physical loss i cant help but be thankful at knowing that all of these "things" we own are just "things" and when we get to heaven it will just be our soul that matters. these "things" wont matter one bit. God chooses to take these "things" away from us at different times. some at the end of our lives, some in the middle and some people never get to have the "things" we do. So we have alot to be thankful for! Lord willling Christa and I plan to drive down to the washington/eureka area tomorrow night for the wknd to help clean up some of the debris. Prayers for a safe travel and safe weather conditions would also be greatly appreciated. Although i cant afford to give donations in the form of money i do have time and an able body. So I will use what i can to help my fellow man. God is good!
SO much to pray for in this week! Next week Lord willing i will be bogging from the coziness of my home sweet home. Oregon <3 tuesday night i fly out! 5 small days.... eeek!:) rdy or not fellow oregonians, here i come!:D
