This weekend i was blessed to have spent my first sunday in Lester. I have every friday off this semester so i headed up around 3:30 and got to Lanna Meyers around 5:20. After chatting a bit we got ready for Dinner and Yg. That night we went to a care home and sang for/with the elderly. But before we sang Lanna and I met Whitney Metzger and Kyla Knobloch for pizza at pizza ranch. (I get the awesome opportunity of eating at all these new places that ive never been to before!) They are all such sweet girls. This family of christ surprises me every day. Always new brothers and sisters that i get to meet and everytime im greeted with such love and open arms. We are so blessed! After the elderly singing Janae Mogler had a lunch call at her place. (Another new thing i get to experience out here, lunch calls) It always makes me laugh how the terminology out here is so different than that in Oregon. Food eaten after an activity in Oregon is called a "snack", In Iowa its called "lunch. Lunch in Oregon is the middle meal of the day. They call that dinner. Dinner is the last meal of the day In Oregon. They call that Supper. We too call it supper at home but more times than not we call it dinner. All the different quirks make me laugh. After the "lunch" Guitars and harmonicas were pulled out and the young group sang. It was a ton of fun just sitting around singing praises to the Lord and everyone showing their talents.
*A humorous conversation that was continual through out that night was an argument of who talked the weirdest. Iowans or Oregonians. Of course me and Bekah were extremely out numbered! Im pretty sure i heard the word "Mom" said about a million times as the boys tried saying it like oregonians. Made for a good laugh:) *
Saturday, Lanna, Hannah Wulf and I went on an adventure to Sioux Falls South Dakota to see the Falls of Sioux Falls. It was an enjoyable walk, regardless of the wind and rain. I was LOVING the rain!! Ahh it really felt like fall then. After our walk we strolled the little shops in the town and then ended up at Applebees where we met up with Kendra Schmidgall and Nikki Barber. Again, SUCH fun girls!
That night we all went to a dinner and singing for the Invite-a-family weekend that was happening in Lester. Afterwards, Kendra, Nikki and I went to Lachelle mosers alone with Erika Massner. I cant recall there ever being a moment of silence the entire night! We made the discovery that we were all 19 years old, all born within 5 months of each other, we all loved to talk and we all had low alto voices. So you can only imagine what our laughter sounded like.. a bunch of bellowing men :D
Sunday night Lanna invited Kendra and I over for dinner after church since we both didnt have anything to do and we both had several hour drives back "home". It was so kind of her family to just open their doors and arms and to feed us a wonderful meal! Once again, It is a blessing to be apart of such a loving church family!
-Christa and I continue to live. Taking one.day.at.a.time. Fall is definitely here. the weather is cooling down (Thank you Lord) and all the pumpkin spices are showing their faces in the nearby cafes. Monday evening i had an evening alone (this is normal) while Christa was working so what better way to spend it than skyping the cutest little gift the Lord has blessed out family with thus far! Miss Brielle Kristine:) Such a little dolly. Shes finally understanding that the noise coming from the screen is a human being and that yes i am real. Shes beginning to be so interactive! Its such a joy:) Sometimes technology can be more of a nuisance than an enjoyment but in this case, thank the Lord for Skype! I felt like I was just hangin out with Ev and Em and brie:)
Later that evening Critter and I went skype happy and we were so excited that our friends back home were willing skypers! Our skypes with Wendi and Annie helped out homesickness and definitely put us both in good moods:) Thanks guys!
-Yesterday i came home from school to a package from my secret sister!! :D I was so excited!! No offense fellow pals but my secret sister is hands down the best!:) Gummy bears, gummy lifesavers, post-it notes, highlighters, pens, pencils, and a stack of paperclips, tacks and safety clips. Perfect college package! Shes so sweet!:)
-Last night was a swell night of roommate bonding. With all the rain we have been getting and the gray skies Christa and I were in the mood for Christmas, home, and comfort. So we donned our footy pajamas, popped popcorn over the stove, played christmas music, and scoured pinterest. With all the festivities filling our little abode brought hyperness, photos and laughters. Needless to say, A good night was had by all.
