Ahh Christmas, my favorite time of the year!:) Crazy shopping malls, glittering mantles, and sweets being baked out the wazoo. Its a hectic but wonderful time of the year! As I sat under the sound of Gods word in my home congregation yesterday It was so good to hear the message being brought forth how "its not the Babe, but the MAN, that sets the spirit free". Yes the celebration of the birth is wonderful because our savior was born! But its so easy to get caught up in the seasonal festivities that we can often times lose sight of what is most important. How blessed we are to have had a savior born unto us in a lowly manger that grew to be a PERFECT man who saved us all from our sins! ahhh it just amazes me:)
So what has Tressa been up to!?
Where do i begin... being back in paradise for the holidays has me on cloud nine. Everything just blends together, so i shall try my best to recap the last week and a couple days...
Finals. Well finals went like this... I did the math. found out i had to get at least a 50% on 2 of my hardest tests and *poof* out the door went any ideas of studying, because shoot, why bother!? It didnt help that i was extremely giddy to go home, and had checked out before id even came back from Thanksgiving! haha still though i felt a little guilty for not studying very much so i put in a few hours total ( maybe 2) and prayed. Honestly though if i didnt know it by dead week then I can guarantee you i wouldnt know it come finals. Regardless of how bad i could have crammed. My brain doesnt work that way. Im very much a piece by piece day by day learner that brings it all together at the end. So cramming doesnt do me a lick of good. So there you have it, i took my finals, cringed, laughed, and went on my merry way:) God was faithful and im happy to say, I passed! ( with the help of my heavenly father that is..) So onto 2nd semester I go, where clinicals await me:) to be honest i'm a little terrified. Its one thing to learn the stuff but then apply it!? Yikes!
Monday the 16th after our last final, Christa and I headed off to Sioux Falls where we did a little shopping with Lanna and Nicky and spent a splendid night and Rhonda and Jim Thielen house. 3 hours of sleep brought us to the time of 3:45 AM when Rhonda (bless her heart) took us to the airport. By 6:30 i was on the plane and OREGON bound!:):):) by 10:30 Pacific time i was landed, and buzzing down interstate 5 with cam as my chauffeur heading home. Ahhh Home, such a fabulous place to be! I found it pretty much bare of decorations so want to know how i spent almost the entire day doing? you guessed it. Decking the Sinn house out for Christmas. As i sit and blog this im surrounded by fur boughs, manger scenes, lights, and poinsettias. Oh and a mound of presents as well ;) I feel like such a child anticipating what Christmas Eve will bring! Mom gave each one of us strict orders to not touch the gifts, move the gifts or search for the ones with our names on them. You'd think that by the ages of 16, 19, and 23 this wouldnt be a problem buttt.. what can i say we are all still kids at heart:)
After traveling all morning, decorating all day, caroling all evening with friends and being up for 21 hours i called it a night. What a perfect way to start off my christmas break:)
Since then my days have been utterly crazy. Last minute christmas shopping, Christmas dinner shopping, coffee dates with friends, scarf exchanges with other friends, wrapping gifts, baking all sorts of Christmas goodies with mom, cleaning the house in preparation for my siblings arrivals, and so on. Its been busy but i wouldnt have it any other way:) Each night i go to bed feeling exhausted, and yet so happy! ive missed these people so. And ive missed a double bed. And ive missed the sounds of family, the sounds that i cherish the most:)
While im on the mushy ramblings about how much i love my home, should i enlighten you all about our wonderful weather!? Well currently as i write this its a cool 31, but today as i ran around town doing this and that i did so in a 3 quarter length t-shirt, and no snow coat!!!:) it was fabulous! a simple pea coat was plenty warm enough:) Some people love snow for christmas, and yes while that may be pretty, i love this so much:) Im loving the rain, the warmth and the ability to drive wherever i please and not have to worry about road closures or getting stuck in blizzards! :D
In a few short hours in Christmas eve, cant believe the year has flown by so fast, but i am thankful to be healthy, happy, and to have a God who is so great and who continues to pour his blessings down on me. Wishing you all a blessed week! Let us not forget the REASON for the SEASON.
